Welcome to Boothopia! I’m Monica Booth, a Canadian wife and mom, originally from Ontario but now living in Fort McMurray, Alberta. I have a great interest in writing, and I’m lucky enough to be able to write for a living. I’m also a fan of learning new recipes to cook and bake, as well as reading blogs for homemaking and simple living inspiration.
I write here at Boothopia because most of my family and friends live in other cities and provinces, so in-person meetups are few and far between. Now that we’re parents, I’d like to share updates on what our family is up to. And of course, I’ll be sharing my son’s (nicknamed “Lil’ Ziggy”) progress and growth for those who can’t be here to experience all those exciting moments in person.
I may see my world through rose-coloured glasses sometimes, but I like to look ahead with anticipation and excitement, thinking of the positives and possibilities. Which brings me to…
It’s a simple play on words, taken from “utopia”.
Definition (From Oxford Dictionary):
An imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.
So obviously Boothopia isn’t a perfect place. No place is. But it’s just right for me, and I’m working hard to make it the best place for my family to live and grow. Now, I can’t actually take credit for Boothopia – it was my husband Chris who first used it on his personal blog about ten years ago. But since I already stole his last name, and he hasn’t blogged in half a decade, I asked if I could use it for this new venture. Being the wonderful husband that he is, he said yes and here we are!
